We love making this New Orleans Spicy Shrimp Recipe for parties. It’s a real favorite with our friends! Absolutely worth the time and effort to make this special dish.
1) Peel and de-vein 4 pounds of shrimp. Keep the shells in a separate colander for later.
2) Season the shrimp in a bowl with salt-free Tony Chachere’s seasoning and black pepper to taste. Mix well.
3) Set shrimp aside in the fridge while we make the sauce
4) Heat 1 tbsp of avocado oil in a large pan over high heat
5) Add garlic, cook for one minute
6) Add onions, cook for another minute
7) Add 3/4 cup of Worcestershire sauce
8) Add 3/4 bottle of beer (your choice)
9) 1 tbsp fresh parsley
10) 1 tbsp no-salt Tony Chachere’s seasoning
11) 1 tbsp of fresh chopped chives
12) Add shrimp shells in a colander into the pan
13) Add fresh chopped lemons (You can also use lemon juice, but fresh is better)
14) 1 tsp of fresh rosemary
15) 2 tsp of dried thyme (fresh thyme can also be used, if you prefer a stronger thyme flavor)
16) Add 1 1/2 cups water
17) Stir well and bring to a boil
18) Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes
19) Turn off heat and let stand for 15 minutes
20) Remove colander of shrimp shells
21) Add 1/4 cup of plain yogurt to pan
22) Add 4 tbsp of butter
23) Stir well and bring to a boil
24) Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes
25) Finally, add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 4 minutes
